Biography
South Coast Massachusetts and New York City Native, Victor Valente started early on Spinning records as a hip hop Dj in the early 80's as a member of Afrika Bambatta's Zulu Nation. As a Dj, Victor became exsposed to many genres of music such as Jazz, Funk and Fusion in search of break beats to spin.
Victor began producing local rappers taking his first steps into producing, while reading books on music theory and taking piano lessons. By the early 90's Victor met engineer Rock Smith while in a session at DJ Jazzy Jay's recording Studio in the Bronx. Victor Was later Introduced to I.N.S. Recording Studio by Rock, where he would take on an intership for studio engineering and eventually he found himself working with Known hip hop artists like Shine Head, Chino XL and Afrika Bammbaattaa.
Soon after, Victor met up with Richard Lee Sisco, (1979 Graduate of Laquadia High School of Music and art. One of the origional founding mcs of the legendary Cold Crush Brothers Harry Belefonte during the filming of the motion picture Beat Street) a hip hop pioneer & multi musician who played mainly tenor sax. Victor became inspired after listening to Richard play and began studying the saxophone.
Using his record collection Victor started learning to play the songs he would spin at parties During the early 80's like “Just begun” by Jimmy Castor Lets get it on by Marvin Gaye and “Chamilian” by Herbie Hancock. Soon after 1995 Victor and Richard Sisco recorded “Surviving with the time” which can be found on Victor Valente's 2006 debut “off the canvas”. In 2007 Victor released his sophmore cd "New Life" on his own label GMR Music Corp. then in 2008 Victor produced his first various artist compilation "My Jazzy Soul Volume 1" released on April 23rd 2009.
